Muscat: The Wilayat of Muttrah in Muscat Governorate has received the highest amount of rainfall in the Sultanate of Oman in the past two days amounting to 154 millimeter.
According to the data showed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Wilayat of Muttrah in Muscat Governorate has received 154 mm of rainfall from December 26, 2022 until December 27, 2022, followed by the Wilayat of Muscat with 113 and the Wilayat of Seeb with 77 mm.
While the Wilayat of Barka in South Al Batinah Governorate has recorded 49 mm of rainfall, 28 mm in the Wilayat of Musannah located in same governorate, 26 mm in the Wilayat of Bakha in Musandam Governorate and 25 in each of the Wilayat of Nakhal in South Al Batinah Governorate and the Wilayat of Baushar in Muscat Governorate.
The Wilayat of Dibba in Musandam Governorate has received 23 mm of rainfall, 22 mm in each of the Wilayats of Khasab and Wadi Al Ma'awel and 16 mm in the Wilayat of Liwa in North Al Batinah Governorate.
Oman Meteorology has said previously, “Trough of low pressure will affect the weather in the Sultanate of Oman gradually from Monday December 26, 2022 and will continue till Thursday. The trough will be associated with clouds advection and chances of different intensities of thunderstorms over Govemorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dakhilyah, Muscat, Al Dhahira and North al Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah.”
The recent heavy rains resulted closure of some roads in Muscat Governorate and caused the flow of valleys and reefs in several governorates.
